Pattern Play 4

Dive into our Pattern Play series, where students of all ages and levels have the opportunity to create, explore, and enjoy making music in a fun and engaging way. The series consists of four progressive volumes, each providing a carefully sequenced collection of musical patterns that form the building blocks of music. By working with these patterns, students will learn to improvise and compose in a wide variety of styles, including classical, jazz, and popular music. This hands-on approach fosters creativity and strengthens both musicality and theory, making it a perfect complement to traditional piano study. The books also encourage students to explore improvisation and composition in a way that’s intuitive, empowering them to develop their unique musical voice while deepening their understanding of music theory.

Pattern Play 4 delves into the exploration of moods and imagery in music, encouraging students to express different emotions and themes through their playing. This volume introduces improvisation using scales and modes with one and two sharps, expanding students' harmonic range. Students will create music with triads, as well as 7th, 9th, 13th, sus, and diminished chords, gaining deeper insight into more complex harmonies.
